The Dr. Mable Parker McLean Scholarship
2024 Scholarship Application
The Pearls and Ivy Foundation of Cabarrus County provides scholarships to foster its commitment to cultivating and encouraging high scholastic standards and strong community engagement among high school students in all Kannapolis City and Cabarrus County Schools. In 2024, The Pearls and Ivy Foundation will award 4 one-time scholarships to qualified high school students in the amount of $1,000 each. At least one of the scholarships will be awarded to a student attending HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). Eligible candidates must attend a Kannapolis City or Cabarrus County High School, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrate leadership capabilities through community service and/or extracurricular activities, and attend a four-year college or university beginning Fall 2024.
All information listed below must be submitted as one package:

A completed application form.

An official high school transcript listing a GPA of at least 3.0 weighted emailed directly from the school.

One letter of recommendation: 1) from a teacher/staff at your school OR 2) from a leader, employer, coach, etc. in your community

A 500-word essay in Times New Roman or Arial 12-point font on one of the following topics:
Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
OR
Describe a recent community service project in which you have participated. Explain the reason behind your decision to engage in this community service project. Elaborate on the positive impact it had on the community. Furthermore, discuss how this experience can contribute to your future success and serves as a guiding force in your life.

To be eligible for consideration, the completed application package must be received by Friday May 3, 2024.
Incomplete application packages will not be considered.
